Juana Lamon-Henderson Military Academy ("CERAIN Institute" for the adults) is a part of CERAIN's mission to foster ethical STEM. It is a non-profit, STEM/STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathmatics) K-12, private military academy. We teach ethical robotics, AI, space, art, sports, and more. It is affiliated with Chicago State University's STEM/STEAM Bridge. JLH Military Academy is not funded by CSU, we rely on donations from the parents of the cadets, and the people.
Not only do our students/cadets get hands-on training in various fields of STEM to prepare them for the fast-paced technology of today & tomorrow, they also learn essential "nation-building" skills (such as agriculture, trades & civil engineering), and they have opportunities to exercise their artistic side through drawing, painting, and music.
One of the major concerns of students, and parents who advocate for non-traditional schooling as opposed to parochial school, is the social interaction (or lack thereof) of that is always associated with homeschooling. JLH Military Academy cadets do not have that obstacle, as they have a variety of other cadets from multiple backgrounds whom they have as classmates. They also participate in sports such as track & field, swimming, basketball, and martial arts (and more), and compete against students from Chicago Public Schools, homeschool cooperatives, private & charter schools.
